August 30, 2017
Dinner:  4pm at Lucky’s Restaurant
Meeting:  6 pm at the Senior Center, doors open
Meeting starts at 6:30 pm

Our guest speaker will be ROSSIE HUTCHINSON from Ann Arbor.  She is a member of the Ann Arbor Modern Quilt Guild.  Rossie earliest memories was of her mother sewing clothes, but Rossie’s love of fabric drew her to quilting.  She has been quilting for over 15 years.  Rossie says she loves improvisational modern quilts styles but has gotten inspiration from traditional quilts and blocks. She said she feels inspiration for quilts comes from many places.  ROSSIE has designed patterns for modern quilts, many with a traditional flair you can see her quilts on her blog and web page.

When Rossie was learning to quilt she got most of her information and inspiration from on line Flicker groups, forums and blogs.   She is friends with many of modern quilters who are designing fabric, patterns and leading the modern quilt movement. Rossie is a professional quilting teacher who has taught on line, on PBS FRESH QUILTING show, at quilt guilds as well has her own guild and at Quilt Con.  She has authored many articles for quilting magazines and books.   Rossie is currently using a long arm for quilting, but has quilted on a domestic machine  and she also has had local quilters quilt her projects.

I personally am looking forward to her quilts and lecture as I want to make quilts for the “grands” and they like the MODERN style.  You can find more about Rossie and see her quilts if you use the links below.
