EYE CANDY from VIRGINIA ANDERSON AND APRIL YORKS TRUNK SHOW

What a wonderful trunk show and lecture it was.... it is so nice to see the span of quilts made by a quilting family over multiple generations.  I also enjoyed seeing the quilts from Virginia and April's collection of antiques. I loved getting to see the quilts up close when I was helping to pack them up.  The workman ship was wonderful.

I am posting the best of the pictures I took last night ... so enjoy.

PATRIOTIC PINWHEEL ….

1.     Step #1 :  CUT FOUR .....7inch squares of white on white or cream fabric

2.    Step #2: Cut TWO 7 in. Blue squares and TWO 7 in. Red squares.

Step #3: For each pair of a white and a colored square, place one white/cream and one colored (red or blue) fabric right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the back of the white fabric.

Step #3: For each pair of a white and a colored square, place one white/cream and one colored (red or blue) fabric right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the back of the white fabric.

Step #4: Sew a scant 1/4 in. seam on each side of the diagonal line.

Step #5: Cut on the drawn lines. Press open and square up the half triangle blocks to 6 1/2 inches each. There should be FOUR blue/white ones and FOUR red/white ones.

Step #6: The half square triangle blocks are squared up to 6 1/2 inches. Then four of these block pieces are sewn together into a 12 1/2 inch pinwheel block.

Step #7: Using Four blue HST, sew these together in the orientation shown in the picture. Using Four red HST, sew these together to make a red pinwheel as shown in the picture.

(Colored piece of the HST is on the top right of pinwheel.)

Step #8: Square your pinwheels to 12 1/2 inches. Sew a red pinwheel to a blue pinwheel for your

Blotto entry. Your completed entry block will measure 12 1/2 by 24 1/2 inches.

(I will also accept one red and one blue pinwheel for a single Blotto ticket if you do not wish to sew the two pinwheels together.)

Step #9: Repeat two more times for two more Blotto entries.
**** HST stands for Half Square Triangle
